Tabla is one of the most popular percussion instruments in the world. It is played with the hands and produces a wide range of musical sounds which are arranged into distinct rhythmic pieces.
I am Dhananjay Mishrafrom Banaras Gharana and playing the instrument and doing stage shows for over 35 years now, Started learning at the age of 10. and giving remote online Tabla training to Indians and overseas students over 10 years.

The Benares tabla gharana was developed a little over 200 years ago by Pandit Ram Sahai (1780–1826).

The tabla solo is highly developed in the Benares gharana, and some artists, such as Anokhelal Mishra, Samta Prasad and Kishan Maharaj have become famous as tabla soloists. Google for Anokhelal Mishra for more info.

I have trained under Hon’ble Pt.Ishwar Lal Misra and Pt.Chotte Lal Misra who are direct descendants of Legendary Samrat Anokhelal Mishra.

Coming to my degrees to give glimpse of my love towards tabla.I did my Master of Music (Tabla) from Benaras Hindu University, Varanasi and I was Senior fellowship for research in Center for Cultural Resources and Training under the Ministry of Culture awards in Tabla.

I am with one of the best living hands ever .He has a huge collection of original lessons of Banarasi tabla baaz passed on to him by his father guru and mentor pt.Ishwar lal Mishra. and his uncle the legendary pt chote lal mishra ji . I feel so fortunate that I am his student. he has a unique style of teaching . he is patient with me and very loving. he understands the insecurities and doubts of the student. he not only guides with the lessons but also constantly motivates me with his kind words !!

Very knowledgeable and skillful Tabla Teacher

I started learning tabla from Mr Dhananjay Mishra ji recently. I am a remote learner and log in from the US. Despite of distant learning session, I found I have started picking up the skills in no time. Mr. Mishra is very talented and has an excellent teaching skills. He explains the concepts well and focuses on getting the basics right from the day 1. This makes foundation solid. I highly recommend him for beginners as well as advanced students.

Good Teacher and Mentor

I have been taking classes for little over 2 months now, so far i have been extremely happy. Never missed a class, always on-time and reminds me ahead of class (though i do not need that!). Reviews the earlier classes. I can approach and reach him if i have something to clarify very easily.
