In a career spanning over five years, I have handled MYP, IGCSE, AS/A levels, IBDP, and an adapted middle school curriculum of English. Aside from being a teacher-editor (yearbook, newsletter) throughout, I have been a homeroom teacher/grade tutor for all five years of my teaching career. In addition to regular duties, I have also been part of the guidance counselling cell of the school. Furthermore, I have served as an LP chair for the NEASC accreditation team. I am currently an MYP examiner of English and have also earned my level 2 Google certified educator certificate.

It is only when I started teaching, I realised that a lot of the textual content that I was familiarised with as a student happened to present a very lopsided narrative or worse - a narrative which didn’t encourage discussions. There wasn’t any room for me to question or more importantly - no instinct to question. As a teacher, I try to inculcate the spirit of questioning within my learners, starting from the very fundamental query - why am I reading?

I think education in its truest sense should develop a spirit of fearlessness and inquiry. It is only when one questions that one realizes their own privilege and understands the importance of inclusion, diversity and dissent.
