It vary on demand of students.
Personally I like to teach students in detail with reading and understanding of a topic completely.
After completing lessons I prefer to give assignments and tests related to topic,(assignments are generally based on research topics, students have to search and write in their own words, not copy paste type assignments). It helps to boost critical thinking and writing style of students. Same is the case with test methodology, students who have complete understanding of topic can score good marks otherwise they have to repeat the topic, assignment and tests.
