I grew up with a learning disability which was not diagnosed for a long time. My early years of institutional education were quite unpleasant with frustrated teachers and parents. Through pure determination and hard work, I managed to overcome my handicap and achieve several academic accolades, including publishing in many prestigious academic journals and receiving a Ph.D. However, during the early years, many teachers grew frustrated with me and simply gave up on me. Few dedicated teachers, however, did not. The few, lucky for me, were sufficient to keep me from giving up. Thus, I wish to be a similar influence on my students. My teaching philosophy is best summed up by one word, 'patience'. I wont give up on a student because I personally know how important a 'few good teachers' are. I owe it to the wonderful few teachers I had.
