I was born in New York City, I currently live in Venezuela; I have been an English teacher, ESL teacher, a translator, an interpreter, a freelancer, a Highschool English teacher, and also a foreign language teacher (I teach Spanish, Portuguese, German and Italian besides English). I have more than 20 years of experience, and I know that there are not any bad students, but rather bad teachers, a student is a reflect of his/her teacher... I am also a Musician, I studied the double bass in the local Symphonic Orchestra, I also took singing class in the University's Choir, I play the drums, the Bass and the guitar as well... I studied Psychology at College, and I apply what I learned into my teaching. Being a native does not guarantee that one (the native person) is a "natural born teacher", despite the fact that one (as a native) knows the language, yet, one has to learn the teaching strategies, theories and Dynamics, and apply them to the students who trust in one's knowledge for their learning process. Why? I know many native American English speakers and British English speakers who use colloquial forms/street jargon (slang) when they communicate... Remember this: "You write as good (or as bad) as you speak". This means, that if you speak bad (in a wrong way), your writing will be bad, but if you speak good (in a proper, formal way), your writing skills will be excellent. I have always said "knowledge is your power"; so you should strive to get the most out of every situation you face in your daily life.. If you are willing to learn English, (Spanish, Portuguese, German or Italian) starting from zero, do not doubt to contact me... Thank you for reading... May your knowledge increase every day!
