My teaching style has a basic pattern but I practice flexibility as and when needed. The lessons usually begin with breathing exercises relevant for the students to develop their bodies into instruments of singing, followed by vocalisations to be able to sing notes with precision and clarity and eventually the music/project at hand.
The lessons also comprise of the skills related to ear training, music theory, sight reading, sight singing and all the relevant things a vocalist must know.
I often have heard from my students that my classes are a comfortable space for them to develop their personalities as singers, performers and people in general.
It’s extremely rewarding to see them win competitions and do well in life as an artist.
A key factor of being associated with me has been the out of class support system - most students stay connected and keep sharing their work with me even when our course of classes is not in action or in between lessons and the process of real growth doesn’t really stop or end. .
Lastly, my aim is watching the singers grow.
I often say that the world would be a better place if everyone could enjoy singing and in fact is honed at some point in their lives to song.
Also, that would in turn make us more sensitive and tasteful towards arts. It’s a win win situation for everyone.
