Bipasha Bhattacharyya Graduate Student (History, Presidency University)
I believe in making mistakes. The 'wrong answer' is a concept that doesn't exist. As long as a student is able to justify a certain belief or method with suitable evidence, I always try to give them a fair hearing. I think too much time and effort is put into achieving a certain ideal of perfection which may not always be necessary. There are levels of learning any subject, and with an placement exercise that is the first thing I give all my students, I aim to ascertain that level, and teach accordingly. I appreciate constructive criticism and believe that every moment is a teachable moment for both the teacher and student.

In my experience as a private tutor, I have often come across numerous pupils from under-privileged backgrounds, and have tailored fee requirements accordingly ( at times teaching free of cost as well). If however privilege is not an issue, I would expect that both parties involved would be able to come to a reasonable compromise, which is reflected in the above estimation.
