I focus mainly on basic Concept and dept understanding, so that student can himself able to solve new types of questions he/ she find anywhere.
I used to teach every concept step wise so that in very less time student can learn to approach the problem.
I also try to create a habit in student to not mugg up more thing and instead of that he believes more on understand the thing more proper way, some time i teach them to use more than single concept for a single question.
