- To cater what the student need, one must be able to assess the cause of the struggle. Lacking knowledge of the basics, will certainly hinder progress. By strengthening the basic mathematics skills, complicated concepts will be easily broken down to manageable pieces. - I believe that students learn mathematics best through scaffolding and deliberate practice. Hence, my teaching style is geared towards modelling, guiding, then giving opportunity for independent practice. - Examples will be provided. Solving lessons are first introduced in a step-by-step and specific manner. The processes are explained in layman's term. Then, the student is introduced to examples to be answered independently to reinforce learning. - Since most of the concepts in mathematics will be focused on solving, I highly promote constant practice. Mathematics is more on pattern recognition. - The ultimate goal of learning is for the student to be able to devise their own techniques and/or look for other quicker alternatives to shorten the process resulting from fully grasping and understanding the logic of the skills being taught. Shortcuts are very good, but will be more meaningful if the student will be the one who developed it.
