Hi, this is Poorna Chandrika, I am a professional Carnatic singer. I am performing for past 25 years in various musical concerts, programs, and festivals. I have also performed on TV channels like Sankara and TTD. I am currently pursuing my post-graduation in Carnatic music. I grew up in a musical family. My father, Kalaimamani Karukurichi Shri A.Ravi Narayanan and my mother N. Shyamala are professional veena artists. I started my music journey from my grandfather late Karukurichi S. Adhinarayanan, from whom I learned Carnatic saastriya sangeetham. My grandfather, father and few of my uncles are all well renowned A.I.R grade artists.
I currently take vocal music classes for students from various age groups. I teach from the basic Sarali varisai, Janta varisai, Mel sthayi varisiai, Alankaram, Geetham, Swarajathi, Varnam, Keerthanas, Pancha Rathnas, Thyagaraja Krithis, Mysore Vasudevacharya Krithis, Annamacharya Krithis, Purandhara Dasar Krithis, Thirupugazh, Thevaram, Kavadichindhu, Ashtakam, Hanuman Chalisa, slokam etc., Ragas and Thalas will be explained along with each lesson. Slokas and Bhajans are taken especially for kids and on special requests. Along with the practicals, theory-based classes will additionally be taken to provide in-depth knowledge of music.

Patient and Attentive Teacher

I have been learning from ma'am for the last one month. She is kind, patient and gives a lot of individual attention. She gently guides you through mistakes and motivates you. Her recordings are especially useful for learning. She also is quite flexible and understanding of the student's requirements. As a working professional in another time zone, there are inevitable scheduling conflicts that she handles with ease. I am extremely satisfied with her skills in singing and teaching and in engaging the interested learner :)

One of the best teachers you could have.

Teacher Poorna has been teaching me vocals. She’s really knowledgeable and passionate about Carnatic music. She always tries her best to give me tips to become a better singer. She provides recordings, notes, and songs for each class. She doesn’t waste time while teaching and uses the time given usefully. She is flexible in learning about what her students wants and needs. Explains in-depth about the context of each song. Gives motivational words to do better not only in singing but also in life in general. She’s always willing to answer questions. She’s really dedicated as a teacher and wants the best out of her students. I would definitely recommend anyone who wants to learn.
