My name is Milarni, a registered nurse and English tutor residing in the Philippines. My students call me Teacher Cheeney.

I started teaching English to foreign nationals (Koreans, Chinese, Indians, Americans, etc.) in 2009. I gained my professional nursing license in 2010. I graduated from my Master of Arts in Nursing Major in Nursing Administration degree in 2016.

I believe that teaching is an individualized approach. I carefully assess my students based on their needs, wants, and personalities before I do my teaching plan. The learning style of one student may not be the same with another, hence I adjust my teaching materials accordingly.

For IELTS Writing Task 2 learners, I begin with the discussion of the basic techniques in doing the task. After that, we do tasks by part before doing an entire essay. In giving tasks, I provide the question/ topic to my student, he/she does it and sends it to me for checking, and I return it to him/ her with corrections and feedback.

Practice is essential in learning a second language such as English. Patience and determination to excel are needed to succeed. I value time but is willing to go beyond the alloted time per session when I think that it will be beneficial for my student.

    ₱500–850/hour (US$8.78–14.93/hour)

    Fee depends on time, day of the week, lesson to teach, and assessment of the student. Rates are negotiable.
