Currently, I am working as Associate Professor in the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences, and Research Institute for Medical and Health Sciences, College of Health Sciences, University of Sharjah, Sharjah, UAE. I have more than 16 years of combined teaching, research and innovation experience in biological and medical sciences. The focus of my career to date has been in teaching concise course material, ongoing research, leading publications, contributions to a range of studies, curriculum planning and innovation Strategy. I have taught various subjects like Advanced Clinical Chemistry, Advanced Laboratory Techniques, Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Clinical Biochemistry, Genetics, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Introduction to Research, Immunology, Medical Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Neurology, Recombinant DNA Technology, and Research Methods at graduate and post-graduate levels. My primary fields of research are biochemistry and neurology, currently focusing on understanding the molecular and behavioural mechanism of effects of anti-diabetic drugs in psychotic and dementia conditions. I am also investigating molecular and behavioural mechanisms of novel therapeutic combinations in multiple sclerosis.
For scientific contributions, I have been granted 3 patents, published 410 research manuscripts (citations: 11728, H-index: 56, i10 index: 232) and have been involved in 25 research grants. I have also supervised 3 PhD, 2 masters and 7 bachelor students in their research projects. I have served as examiner of 12 PhD and master theses and have assessed 5 research grant applications. I am also involved extensively in editorial roles in renowned scientific journals like Journal of Advanced Research (Associate Editor), Scientific Reports (Senior EBM), PLoS One (Academic Editor), Current Neuropharmacology (Section Editor) and Current Alzheimer Research (Section Editor). I have to my credit 406 Web of Science verified editor records, and 664 Web of Science verified reviewer records. I have been involved as guest editor of 21 special issues in reputed international journals. I have been professionally associated with the Royal Society of Medicine (Fellow), Royal Society of Biology (Member), American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (Member) and Canadian Association of Neuroscience (Member).
For my scientific contributions, I was approved as a subject of biographical record in Marquis Who's Who in the World in 2020. I have also been recognized as Expertscape World Expert in Alzheimer’s disease and Neurodegenerative Disorders since 2020. For my exemplary contribution to scientific research. I have been listed in Top 2% Scientists Worldwide since 2020 (announced by Stanford-Elsevier BV).
Modes of teaching: Traditional blackboard, Classroom projector, Blackboard Learning, Team based learning, Problem based learning, Flipped classroom.
Teaching vision: I prefer the friendly way of teaching where my students are comfortable with me and my ways of teaching. I always focus on making sure that each and every student of my class gets the message being delivered in my class. My mode of teaching has always been based on the opinion of a particular class. Many times, I have used two modes of teaching the same topic in same class, so as to achieve my target of reaching out to each and every student. This approach has earned me great love, respect and appreciation from my students, which is extremely satisfying as a teacher. I will follow the similar approach in future, and I want to be a teacher who can be easily reached by most reserved student of the class.
