My name is Michael Mukumbi, I am from Zambia. I am a passionate English Language teacher with over 4 years of experience teaching of which three years were spent teaching online. I am TESOL certified. I am also Certified as an IELTS Specialist and Business English Specialist and have taught adult learners on a one-on-one basis and in a classroom set-up. I have also experience teaching Business English Language and public speaking. In the last 4 years, I have interacted with and trained over 350 students in the English Language.

My class sessions mainly start with open conversations that allow me to learn about my student and also make an assessment of how best can help them make improvements. I like to ask the student what goals or targets they may have and also get to have a picture of what weaknesses or strengths they believe they have in English.
My approach may take a contextual or topical approach to get the student to understand the use of nouns and verbs. These go on to take a role play-based approach to help the student apply the right use of tenses, adjectives, and pronouns. I also like to take on new word challenges to teach my students new words. I also like to take pronunciation exercises and give practice tasks. However, I am also open to directions and reading material my students may like to take.

I’m passionate about making education accessible and fun. There’s a lot I love about teaching, but my favorite moments are hearing comments from the students like “This class is so much fun” and “This doesn’t feel like regular school!” Also, the lesson topics are engaging and it’s great to see the students’ personalities come alive on screen.
