Rema Downes Corrective Reading

I am a trained teacher who is very enthusiastic about how children learn. With over 20 years of experience, I have garnered several results from students who were reading at or below Grade Two level to passing CAPE subjects and one even became the Head Boy. Others, who previously had difficulty passing state exams, were able to pass them and were able to be transitioned to another grade level.
I use music, acronyms, and mnemonics to teach as these definitely help students to easily recall what they were taught. Students always use the songs, acronyms and mnemonics that they learnt from me in higher grades. This makes me resolute in using them since many students will learn concepts but forget them very quickly.
I also strongly believe that students' success ( but not in totality) also depends on parents' positive involvement. Therefore, feed back from parents and/or guardians along with frequent feed back from me is a crucial ingredient that I have used to make my success very favorable.
Additionally, adjustments at home, if necessary, is another method to reap success since I strongly believe that the home, community and the teacher are very paramount in the holistic development of a child.
