I believe in student-led learning while I play the role of a facilitator and varying teaching methods to cater for the interests and learning styles of my learners. I value authentic tasks and experiences that aid acquisition of skills. With each curriculum geared towards a final assessment, I backward plan my teaching to make the expectations explicit to my learner so that they have no room for anxiety and that they can always relate with each concept, topic, skill, task, and are able to respond to the 'why' we are covering specific skills and topics.
Finally, it is my strong view that no one comes to my class with an empty slate, and I do not posses a repository of knowledge. Therefore, I usually shape and exhaust the prior knowledge of my student before I can share any further ideas.
Learning is a lifelong process, and thus I appreciate my learner's perspectives which have many times offered learning moments for me, too. It is fun when we learn from each other. Let's have fun as we learn.
