Being a teacher is not just a job. For me, teaching is who I am. Teaching is my way of life. Whatever I am as a teacher reflects what I am as a person.
I never dreamt of being a teacher. I always aspired to become a doctor that is why I took up Biology as my major in college. Growing up, I remember admiring my teachers so much-- the way they make lessons fun, they way they interact with us, and especially how they treat each students uniquely. And looking back, I think that is one of the reasons why teaching became my calling-- I wanted to inspire my students the way my teachers inspired me to have that certain degree of love for learning.
My teaching process is grounded in concepts that makes sure my students continue to learn and develop. I want them to turn into people who always ask questions and find ways to solve problems. As an educator, it is our responsibility to never stop learning and I want my students to also have an unending thirst for knowledge.
To make this possible, it is a must that I do not only pose myself as their teacher but also as someone who can see through them and someone who is also open in learning with them. Being a teacher is fulfilling because you get to share your knowledge with your students. What makes it fun is when you learn from and with your students. With this being said, I think what makes a class great is when both the teacher and students learn from each other.
