Full professor of the Medical Faculty of the University of Nis, Dr. Gordana Kocić was born in Slovenia.
She completed her professional training in Basel (Switzerland) at the “Lehre und Forshung” Institute. By receiving 4 patents (2 domestic and 2 international), she became a registered innovator of the Ministry of Education and Science. Beside of the lecturing in Basic medical Biochemistry, Genetics and Clinical Biochemistry, Prof. Gordana Kocić is the head of Doctoral Academic Studies and has been the creator of doctoral study programs since the first accreditation, in three accreditation cycles. She is the head of one compulsory course (NIR Methodology) and one elective course (Transduction of hormonal regulatory and immune signals in normal and pathological conditions) in the Doctoral Academic Studies. She was a lecturer in Doctoral studies in Maribor (Slovenia).
She was the head of the accreditation of the Faculty of Medicine in the accreditation processes. She is currently the Vice dean of Postgraduate studies and the Head of the Department of Biochemistry at the Medical Faculty in Nis. So far, she has actively participated in the preparation of 26 doctoral theses (in 5 doctoral theses as a mentor and in 21 doctoral theses as a member or chair of the committees), and a number of student research works. She is experienced enough to apply new and modern teaching method is more activity-based and centers the learner's mind which involves them entirely into the process of learning. She helps students to understand Biochemistry in a simple and very interesting way.
She directly realized her research spirit with not only current projects, publications, and patents.
She has been the project head of the following projects of the Ministry of Education and Science and in the international projects (02/2-062/20-891/2 since June 12, 2020), and in NETCHEM project, directly related to education. On two occasions, she was the manager of international bilateral projects with Slovenia, an associate on a bilateral project with Montenegro, the manager of WUS project, one of the representatives of three TEMPUS projects, ERAWEB WB joint mobility program and Erasmus plus project.
Research and Bibliography: Professor Gordana Kocić has published her research in renowned journals (154 scientific papers in journals from the Journal Citation Report - SCI list, of which 7 scientific papers in journals of category M21a, 24 scientific papers in journals of category M21, 33 scientific papers of category M22 and 81 scientific paper in journals of category M23). In other citation databases, she has 13 scientific papers, which represents 157 papers published in international journals.
She is one of the authors of the monographs "Biochemistry of Free Radicals" and "Oxidative Modification of Biomolecules"; the author of 6 chapters in monographs of national impact; co-author in 3 textbooks with a group of authors - Biochemistry (5 editions so far, published by the Faculty of Medicine, University of Niš), Clinical Biochemistry (published by the Medical Faculty of the University of Niš), Selected Chapters in Urology (published by the institute for textbooks Zavod za udžbenike, Belgrade). She has published 3 chapters in international monographs, 8 chapters in international thematic collections, delivered lectures by invitation at international congresses, delivered presentations at congresses, which were later published as articles or as summaries in supplements to leading journals or collections (140). She is a member of several Scientific Committees. Innovation activity is documented in 4 registered patents (2 domestic and 2 international). She has received numerous awards (attached): for doctoral thesis, published publications, scientific contribution and the best technological innovation.Professor Gordana Kocić is the winner of numerous awards.
