I was born in a village where higher education was merely regarded as insignificant and unachievable. Having emerged in the top three in my primary school, I narrowly escaped the same notion; I joined a district high school even though I was called to join a provincial school. At high school, I developed an inherent passion for math and natural sciences. Therefore, I was always chosen to participate in internal and external math contests and symposiums. In addition, I always emerge top of my class for the four years period and even won awards in math, physics and biology. As a result, I was chosen to represent my school in Verdal, Norway in a school exchange programmed. The experience was invaluable as it enabled me to realize my prospects of studying mathematics at the university level. Having been admitted to take a course in mathematics at Kenyatta University, I became the first person from my village to acquire a university education. Besides, I had to motivate many students who later performed and got admission to various universities. I improved my skills of dedication, perseverance and teamwork. I also did more units surpassing the required units for classification and graduation of education science students and even obtain first class honours emerging among the best top ten. Currently, I am a mathematics teacher, besides being the head of students’ data management and analysis in my institution. I have developed inherent interest in data analysis, a fact that has made me enroll and complete many data science courses at Coursera under Ajira Digital Program by Ministry of ICT, Kenya. I am also a master’s of science in statistics student at Pwani University
