I'm Ef Villegas, an educator both by trade and heart. I have experience tutoring a multitude of subjects across different levels, ranging from 6th Grade Mathematics to post-graduate test preparation (GRE). Name a subject, there's a good chance I've taught it or have the ability to teach it.

My interests run quite the exhaustive gamut, something that I often use to relate to my students. I've dissected contemporary rap and Shakespeare side-by-side to bridge a narrative gap that a student wasn't getting. I've used manga and my meager knowledge of K-pop to explain Jungian archetypes. The aim is to always relate to my student in a way that they'll both enjoy and understand.

Beyond that, I put an emphasis on knowledge integration. While my expertise is clearly in English, I keep a healthy amount of knowledge on the basic subjects refreshed in my head, both so I can teach it should I need to and to be able to use already existing structures as templates for new knowledge.

I'm always really eager to talk to my students, to figure out how best they can grow as learners, and to fill the gaps in my teaching style.

So far this has resulted in a number of my personal students being able to go to the schools of their choice, Yonsei University, HKU, Tsinghua University, University of Michigan, Penn State, etc. Those outcomes, coupled with the considerable increase in the scores my test preparation students, makes me confident that I can help just about any student.
