Maria Vougioukalaki PhD in genetics

I have a bachelor degree in Biology, which covers a broad range of fields from Molecular biology to ecology. I have specialised knowledge in molecular and cellular biology and genetics. I am passionate about this scientific discipline and I am able to motivate my students by making them curious to find the answers to interesting questions. I encourage students to ask questions and develop their own critical thinking skills rather than just learn by heart (memorising) information that in some years they may forget. I can help with homework assignments as well as design and implementation of laboratory work/techniques. I provide additional (my own) study material, which involves also parts of top tier journals and books. In addition, my teaching involves regular tests on which the students work, to check progress, identify potential weak points and get constructive feedback. My ultimate goal is to equip the students with skills in problem solving and critical thinking as scientists, that are broadly necessary and not only for life sciences.
