With a total of 15 years’ experience after graduation as a civil engineer, and a twice awarded PhD in France in the field of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering, I am also keen to develop my interpersonal and managerial skills by being an inspirational and motivational person capable of coaching and empowering individuals in achieving own potential and making a significant contribution. Possesses outstanding organizational, planning and interpersonal skills and utilizes communicative abilities in formulating key relationships at all levels. Works well on own initiative with a high degree of self-responsibility; enjoys being part of, as well as leading, a successful and productive team and thrives in highly challenging working environments.
I enjoy teaching soil mechanics! I have tailored a great course material with multimedia content that is still pleasing students throughout the years. Creative teaching attitudes, versatile capabilities, a mix of everything, a great story teller when it comes to geotechnical case studies and stories gathered all over the place.
Here is a glimpse of my latest TRUE geotechnical experience. I was on an assignment in Iraq in the role of Client Site Representative and Lead Geotechnical Projects for a Shell JV (Basra Gas Company) between 2013 and 2016. My role was to manage the daily geotechnical operations, supervision of the contractor in terms of technical, HSE and reporting requirements. During this role, I was also acting as a focal point for all geotechnical related matters, interfacing with projects and engineering disciplines and delivering support in various areas ranging from soil testing, foundation design, management of site investigations, environmental testing, construction material testing, soil electrical and thermal resistivity for pipelines and cable considerations. Being an Arabic speaker, I was actively involved in the development of local staff, coaching and assisting, and helping in the integration between expats and locals. I also helped in making the locals comfortable when dealing with Shell specific procedures and documents.
