The exams nowadays require targetted and focused approach qualifying. Studying limited syllabus and continuous revision with the practice is the key to success. About UPSC Exams as I myself has cleared UPSC CDS 7/7 times, AFCAT exam 8/8 times and also was recommended for SSB from Bangalore and Bhopal board for CDS and AFCAT exams.
