Before anything else,I focus on having a good connection with my students, learn something about their struggle in the subject, and issues they face both at school in understanding the lesson and outside of it.Once I know my students,I can have an individual approach to each of their problems.I believe in positive encouragement. It can do wonders. Many teachers focus on the negatives, pointing out the mistakes, scolding the students for this or that. That's not my approach.I prefer praising my students, even when they achieve just a little progress. Staying positive and encouraging my students,I typically manage to create a positive atmosphere in my class. This makes the lesson more interactive and more engaging. If students' participation increases, they will obviously benefit from the lesson and score the best. While teaching the different types of students, I always have to expect the unexpected and adapt the changes.Of course,it is great to have everything prepared upfront, knowing exactly what I want to teach in a lesson. But I have learned by experience that more often than not it does not work.I face some delays, students lose discipline or did not find the lesson interesting enough to pay attention. In such a case, I always try to adapt, make the lesson more interactive or do something else to win their attention back. Adaptation is the key,and I do my best to be ready for all challenges I may face in the class. Teaching mathematics is partially science, partially arts.I am not one of those teachers who starts talking at the beginning of the lesson and never stops until the last minute.I involve my students as much as I can, ensuring that they are getting it,and collecting their feedback regularly. As long as they are getting it and doing their homework, they are progressing each at their own pace.In addition, regular testing is the best way to assess their progress.
