I have had training from the kathak exponent himself...Pt.Jaikishan Maharaj son of Birju Maharaj...Kathak is not just about moving hands and legs, it is a complete study including mathematics, abhinaya, nritt, one should only learn from people having good and correct knowledge.
My students follow the exact syllabi by Birju Maharaj ji.
