Calculus is a Mathematics of Change that can be used to study geometric properties of curves, figures, and solids. Calculus is important in the understanding of science, engineering, economics, and computer science, among other disciplines. The course covers differentiation and integration of functions of one variable, with applications. The course aims to help students understand concepts rather than merely mimic techniques, demonstrate understanding by explaining the meanings and important applications of concepts, and construct and analyze mathematical models of real-world phenomena.
