I am Dr. Kanchan Biswas, Ph.D. in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, with an M.Phil in Sociology from the Department of Sociology, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi. I completed my Master’s in Sociology from the Centre for the Study of Social Systems (CSSS), School of Social Sciences, JNU, and my Undergraduate degree in Sociology (Honours) from Presidency University, Kolkata. I have also cleared UGC-NET and UGC-JRF (July 2018). With exposure to JNU, DSE, University of Delhi, and Presidency University, I bring a comprehensive command over diverse syllabi, theoretical traditions, and examination patterns across universities and school boards. My mentorship focuses on conceptual clarity, critical thinking, answer-writing skills, and research orientation, tailored to each student’s academic goals.

My vision is to work closely with cohorts of students and early-stage researchers to cultivate a co-learning environment that actively fosters critical thinking and analytical depth. I adopt an interdisciplinary approach to teaching Sociology, enabling learners to move beyond rigid disciplinary boundaries and engage with social realities in a coherent, systematic, and theoretically informed manner. I offer guided learning in key areas including marginality, sociological theory, research methodology, sociology of development, religion, and social stratification. My pedagogy is dialogue-based and reflexive, positioning teaching and learning as a shared intellectual process. This approach helps students become conceptually grounded, analytically rigorous, and theoretically sophisticated. I am keen to engage with Sociology students at the school, college, and university levels, as well as research aspirants. In addition to coursework support, I provide structured guidance for assignments, term papers, research projects, and academic writing, with a strong emphasis on clarity, argumentation, and methodological soundness.

Very inspiring, patience and well articulating teacher

I studied tuition classes by MS. Kanchan Biswas Madam for my optional course that is . I was really in problem to understand sociology because I had opted political science honors in graduation. I waslooking for a good sociology teacher who can teach me from the beginning. Then I found Kanchan madam and she was a blessing for me to understand sociology. She comes to class well prepared and referred various literature to preparer her lecture. Her teaching method is dialogic and interactive. She explains the concepts and theories of sociology by citing numbers of examples and linking it with the empirical experience of mundane activities near to us. She taught me to answer, term paper writing and assignment presentation skills in best possible manner. I enjoyed studying with her . I am really benefited by studying under Kanchan Madam and I recommend her name for anybody who is looking for sociology tutor.

Experienced, engaging and patient tutor

She is very experienced and knowledgeable. She keeps her lesson effective, engaging and fun. I was able to stay focus and overcome my fear of writing. I definitely plan to keep working with Ms. Kanchan. Highly motivating and a true professional.
