Dr. Raghi Janarthanan is a chennai based Bharatanatyam Guru with 12 years of teaching experience of online and offline in Bharatanatyam, Nattuvangam, vocal, Natya shastra theory/ practicals & Karanas. She always create a friendly atmosphere to learn the arts with complete dedication. Her aim is to spread my knowledge to the qualified candidates to build our culture strong. She has the quality of taking best out of people. She strongly believe that arts can do miracle and she respect it.

She is a distinguished Bharatanatyam exponent, researcher, and educator, and the Founder and Artistic Director of Nrthyopasana, Sholinganallur, Chennai, Insia. With a deep commitment to classical arts, she has been nurturing young talents through rigorous training in theory, practicals, and Nattuvangam. She has trained under Gurus Smt. Saradha Sethuraman, Dr. Sujatha Mohan, Dr. Rajshree Vasudevan & Smt. Dakshayani Ramachandran / Senior Disciples of Padma Vibhushan Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam. Classical Vocal under Dr. Ambika Kameshwar (Director, RASA), Dr. Karpagam (Professor, Dep of Music, Queen Mary's) & Dr. Sheema Balakrishnan. Trained Theatre Arts under Dr. Karthikeyan Chinna Swamy (HOD, Dep of Performing Arts, Tamil Nadu Open University) & Dr. Swarnamalya Ganesh (Actress & Bharatanatyam Exponent)

Dr. Raghi holds a Doctorate in Bharatanatyam from Tamil University, Thanjavur, under the guidance of Dr. Sumathy Sundar, Academic Head – Dance, Bridge Academy College of Media and Fine Arts. Her doctoral research is titled “Comparative Study of Karanas in South Indian Temples”, that draws inspiration from the pioneering work of Padma Vibhushan Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam’s “Karanas – Common Dance Codes of India and Indonesia” and Late Guru Smt. Sundari Santhanam’s “Neo Desi Karanas.”
Her field research involved in-depth study of Karana sculptures from four prominent temples across South India.

Dr. Raghi is an alumna and rank holder from Dr. MGR Janaki College of Arts and Science, R.A. Puram, Chennai, where she completed her M.A. in Natya. She is also a recipient of prestigious titles including Bharata Sri, Natya Kala Ratna, Nrithya Kala Baghya Vidushimani Natya Kala Sarathy, Nrthya Sathvika honouring her excellence as a performer and teacher.

Dr. Raghi has presented several research papers at international conferences, including at IIT Madras, Anna University, and St. Theresa's College, Ernakulam, with publications bearing ISBN and ISSN numbers. she has performed at numerous cultural festivals including Guruvayur Ekadashi, Kaileshwaram Natyanjali in Sri Lanka, and Bhagyanagar Natyanjali in Hyderabad & Margazhi Season festivals at chennai.

In addition to Bharatanatyam, she is trained in Mohiniyattam, Nangiyar Koothu under the brilliant guidance of reputed gurus from kalamandalam, kerala. She is professionally trained at Carnatic Music, and Indian traditional folk arts such as karagattam, kavadi attam, thappattam, oyilattam & pinnal kolattam making her a well-rounded artiste rooted in the classical and cultural traditions of India.

She is currently serving as a board member at Alagappa University, she contributes to syllabus design, academic mentoring, and examination processes for M.A. Bharatanatyam students across multiple institutions. Her ability to bridge tradition with academic rigour has made her a valuable resource in the field & she is a Guest Faculty for the students of Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalitha University of Music & Fine arts

She is, above all, a devoted sadhaka—continuously learning, evolving, and offering her art at the feet of tradition with humility, bhakti, and passion.
