Working with students with learning disabilities: As a tutor I had a chance to interact with the students with learning disabilities. Knowing about their issues in detail and how these issues affect the learning and behavior, helps. And then making sure that the clear structured lesson plans are there according to their needs. Providing clear, concise, and step-by-step instructions is important. Allowing short breaks can be helpful as it takes care of the restlessness if any. Positive reinforcement encourages desired behaviors and academic efforts can bring good results. Hands-on activities and interactive lessons keep the students engaged and can be significant to break the monotony. Maintaining regular communication with the student’s parents/guardians to keep them informed about progress and challenges, is helpful.
