👩⚕️ I’m Dr Nihal Afsheen, MBChB, a psychiatry trainee and medical educator currently specialising in Psychiatry while teaching at the Liverpool School of Medicine. I’m passionate about education, mentorship, and helping students reach their full potential, and I find real fulfilment in guiding learners to build confidence, curiosity, and lasting understanding.
🏫 As an Academic Clinical Teacher and OSCE Examiner, I teach Year 1–4 medical students in anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, communication skills, and clinical medicine. I’m also completing a Master’s in Medical Education, which strengthens my evidence-based, student-focused approach to teaching. My examiner role gives me insight into assessment standards and examiner expectations, which I share with students to help them excel.
🔬 My tutoring journey began during medical school, where I taught A-Level Biology and Chemistry and mentored prospective medical students preparing for interviews and entrance exams. Since then, I’ve delivered over 800 hours of online tutoring, supporting students at GCSE, A-Level, and undergraduate level. My knowledge of AQA, OCR, and Edexcel exam boards allows me to create lessons that align perfectly with each specification.
💡 I’m a nerd at heart who loves turning complex topics in biology, anatomy, and medicine into clear, engaging lessons. My teaching focuses on mastering fundamental principles before progressing to complex material. I believe no question is off limits and create a supportive, interactive learning environment where students are encouraged to think critically, ask questions, and grow in confidence.
🌟 My students consistently give excellent feedback and go on to excel in exams, medical school interviews, and university assessments.
