Hello, I am a native/bilingual speaker from Cape Town, South Africa, with almost 16 years broad and in-depth experience with adults and children gained in London, Cape Town, the UAE, and online internationally.

Lessons are charged in units of 4, 8 or 12, as per the student's requirements, and I offer a free 15-20 minute online consultation to see if the prospective new student and I have a good mutual understanding and will be able to work together well.

I have very broad and in-depth experience in ESL teaching in language and business schools, mainstream schools, and as a private tutor.

I have worked with a wide range of professionals: civil engineers, human resource managers, digital analysts, fashion designers, lawyers, and people in the oil industry, to name but a few.

I very much enjoy working with students from diverse cultures. My teaching style is very interactive and I use media and real-life connections extensively. I balance analogue skills with the skillful and selective use of language learning apps.

I am very passionate about the English language and a keen student of its historical origins and context.
I teach my students effective strategies that they can apply in their free time to help them learn this challenging language, and all lessons are tailored to student requirements after a thorough assessment of skills.

As adults lead very demanding lifestyles it's essential to equip them with strategies that give them results.
My lessons are very detailed but easy-going in the right way and I have a well-developed sense of humour that can help lighten things up at the right times.

    There is an extra charge for travelling based on distance.

Marlize made big differences in my childs confidence

Using posture, speaking and singing skills Marlize helped my child to gain confidence and stand with better posture and able to engage better eye contact with people. She makes plans of activities that will help the child improve where they need to. Recommend to anyone wanting to help their child gain confidence, a voice and overcome shyness.

A true subject matter expert!

Working with Marlize made me confident in achieving the IELTS test. She is very tactical about it and has a process in place to make sure you will cover the main areas. She pointed out my strong and weak points and provided strategies to approach the tricky questions you'll find in IELTS and that I wasn't expecting.
