Hi, my name is Marian.

Educated in New York and Florida, I bring a strong academic foundation and a cross-cultural perspective to my teaching. Growing up, I pursued Advanced Placement (AP) courses in Literature, History, and Mathematics, earning distinctions as an AP Scholar and graduating with the AP Capstone Diploma and awards in literary analysis and research. Although I did not take the IB track, I attended a performing arts high school that emphasized both creative and analytical disciplines, which allowed me to balance research, writing, and mathematics with a strong foundation in the arts.

Currently based in BGC, Manila, I specialize in essay writing, reading comprehension, literary analysis, and history, while also offering support in mathematics for students who prefer a balanced academic foundation. Beyond tutoring, I also work in editing, marketing, and content production. I work as a freelance book editor and translator for published authors. My own literary work has appeared in magazines and anthologies, and I currently oversee editorial direction and content design for a university-affiliated publication.

My tutoring philosophy is rooted in clarity, structure, and empathy. I believe students thrive when they understand how they learn, not just what they learn. Each session begins with a diagnostic assessment to identify a student’s strengths, weaknesses, and learning preferences. From there, I design lessons that build analytical thinking, clarity in expression, and genuine confidence in the material.

Having taught clients from various backgrounds across the U.S., Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines, I value adaptability and open communication. I emphasize skills that extend beyond the classroom: critical reading, persuasive writing, and intellectual curiosity. My students have shown measurable academic growth, from improving grades to mastering college-level analysis, but more importantly, they learn to approach learning with confidence and independence.
