I am an experienced teacher and Cambridge University graduate who will promotes confidence in each child as I believe self belief is key to success. Before working with a student I like to know about their aims, relevant specific learning needs so I am able to prepare and pitch lessons correctly. The topic to be taught is chosen by the student/parent beforehand or by completing a short assessment which identifies next steps. Every student is taught according to how they learn and what the aim of the session is. Typically I ask the student to explain what they know so far and help them to learn any gaps or misconceptions they may have. I then teach and model the next part before giving them questions on the topic which become progressively harder bringing in reasoning and problem solving to ensure mastery. I welcome questions at all times and will adapt the session to ensure quality learning is always taking place. Understanding is assessed by regular questions, quizzes and setting exam questions from the relevant exam board. I am very experienced with SATs and 11+ preparation particularly verbal and non verbal reasoning. As a competent pianist I also teach piano from beginners to ABRSM grade 8. I look forward to hearing from you.
