I am a different teacher who believes that all learners have the capacity to learn but they have certain psychological blocks developed over the years that affects their ability to study and perform effectively. Hence, my method of teaching is based on helping learners to identify themselves, identify their strengths and weaknesses and then I help them to minimize their weaknesses and improve their strong academic skills through my teaching. Most importantly help them to take responsibility for their learning. I encourage students both young and adults to research read on given assignment topics, outline the answers and thene draft a coherent answere. I use the writing process as a technique to help learners to develop their logical and rational thinking skills which is an important cognitive skill to transform a learner into an independant learner. While helping the learners to aquire a knowledge base on a given subject, I a lso use a counselling technique to help the learner to develop an open mind; which is another important aspect of becoming an independant learner.
I have identify tbat most learners have developed an illogical fear to express themselves. Hence, I am generally friendly in nature so that students can genuinely and freely express themselve. My experience as a teacher and teacher educator more than four decads confirms the fact that clear communication enables a helthy rapport between students and learners which in return facilitates better teaching and learning.
