Great Math Teacher Who Made a Real Difference

Ms. Soumya has been an exceptional math teacher for my 7-year-old over the past year, and we continue to be very grateful for her guidance.

My son began Zoom classes with her in March 2025, during the second semester of Grade 1. At the time, he could handle multi-digit addition and subtraction with reasonable accuracy, but he was slow and still relied on counting with his fingers. He also struggled with stamina, often getting frustrated and stopping after just 5–10 minutes, even with encouragement. I believed he had the potential to reach the 90th percentile or higher, his school did not offer any additional support to further accelerate his progress because they already considered him above average.

After finding Ms. Soumya, we spoke to align on goals. I expressed that I wanted my son to perform in the top 95th percentile in his school district’s annual math assessment. Ms. Soumya shared that her approach focuses less on test preparation and more on building a strong foundation and a genuine love for math. That felt like the right balance, as I didn’t want to push him too hard and risk burnout.

We started with one class per week and gradually increased to three. The progress has been remarkable. Between March and August 2025, covering the final months of Grade 1 and the summer break, she helped him master Grade 2 math. From September 2025 to January 2026, during the first semester of Grade 2, he progressed to mastering Grade 3 math. When he took the assessment in February, he achieved a 98th percentile score, an extraordinary improvement from the 58th percentile the previous year.

This turnaround is entirely thanks to Ms. Soumya. She is thorough in covering concepts, uncompromising on correctness, and at the same time very patient, encouraging, and empathetic when my child feels frustrated. She is also flexible with the materials we use and adapts well to his learning style.

We are continuing classes with her, and my son is already learning Grade 4 math while still in Grade 2. I highly recommend Ms. Soumya to any parent looking not just for improvement in math skills, but for a teacher who truly builds confidence and fosters a love for learning.
