As an art and design educator with nearly three years of experience across both Indian and international settings, I have cultivated a teaching philosophy that values both technical mastery and creative freedom. My work is guided by a belief that art is not just a subject—it’s a language through which students learn to observe, reflect, and express their place in the world.
My approach to teaching art integrates structured skill development with inquiry-based learning. I design lessons that progressively build students’ abilities in drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media, while encouraging them to think critically about form, symbolism, and message. Through tailored instruction, regular critique sessions, and exposure to diverse artistic styles and movements, I help students gain confidence in their voice as artists.
Having taught within the IGCSE framework, I am comfortable planning and delivering curriculum-aligned lessons that meet international standards while still allowing space for experimentation. I emphasize the importance of process—sketchbooks, drafts, and self-reflection are all integral parts of my classroom culture. At the same time, I encourage students to take creative risks and explore themes that are meaningful to them, whether personal, cultural, or global.
Classroom management, differentiation, and student engagement are strengths I’ve developed through consistent practice. I’ve worked with a wide range of learners—supporting students with foundational needs as well as guiding high-achieving candidates in developing portfolio-ready work. I also believe in the power of extracurricular opportunities to extend learning beyond the timetable. Organizing exhibitions, competitions, and collaborative art projects has helped me build community within and beyond the classroom.
My experience teaching in the Maldives under the Ministry of Education has deepened my adaptability, cross-cultural communication skills, and understanding of educational environments that prioritize holistic student development. I carry forward those lessons into every new classroom I enter.
