My name is Dr Sonam Sandhu, and I am delighted to share my academic journey—a path shaped by passion, perseverance, and a deep commitment to learning and growth.

I began my academic career with a Bachelor's and Master's in Mechanical Engineering from Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUS&T Hisar), where I strived for excellence and was honoured with the University Gold Medal. This recognition affirmed my dedication and ignited a deeper drive to pursue knowledge and contribute meaningfully to my field.

My doctoral studies at NIT Kurukshetra were a transformative phase in my academic journey. Immersed in advanced research, I had the opportunity to publish multiple scholarly articles, each deepening my expertise and sharpening my analytical skills. Beyond research, I actively contributed to the academic community by organising national conferences and workshops, which enhanced my leadership and event management skills while reinforcing the value of collaboration in academia.

One of the most fulfilling aspects of my time at NIT was my role as a Teaching Assistant. Supporting both theoretical and practical sessions, I discovered the joy of teaching—not just delivering content, but connecting with students, simplifying complex ideas, and witnessing those ‘aha’ moments of understanding. These experiences strengthened my belief in interactive, student-focused teaching methodologies, and the importance of adapting to diverse learning styles.

Outside of academics, I have always believed in giving back to society. I actively participated in social outreach initiatives through NGOs and campus programmes, which enriched my perspective and instilled a strong sense of community responsibility.

With a strong foundation in research, hands-on teaching experience, and a passion for student development and social impact, I am excited to continue contributing to the academic world. I look forward to bringing this blend of knowledge, empathy, and energy to new opportunities, where I can inspire, learn, and grow alongside others.
