About me:

I'm Sarah, a Natural Sciences graduate from University College London (2021) specialising in Astrophysics and Physical Chemistry. I love the interdisciplinary nature of science and how it helps us understand the natural world. Preparing questions for teachers greatly helped me during school exams, and I aim to be that resource for students now.

With four years of tutoring experience, I've taught Science and Maths to students aged 11 to 18. I recently completed a Master's in Popular Music Practice at the British and Irish Music Institute, achieving First Class Honours (Sept 2023). Besides science, I am passionate about music—I play guitar, cello, piano, and sing, performing across the UK.

Tutoring Approach:

Personalised Plans: Custom lesson plans based on student strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles.

Interactive Sessions: Encouraging questions, discussions, and problem-solving to reinforce understanding.

Real-World Applications: Connecting concepts to real-life scenarios to enhance interest and relevance.

Exam Preparation: Practice with past papers, exam techniques, and time management.

Revision Strategies: Effective methods like summaries, flashcards, and mind maps for better retention.

Continuous Feedback: Regular progress updates and adjustments to the tutoring plan.

Supportive Environment: Creating a positive and motivating space for learning.

I focus on building a strong conceptual foundation ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the subject

About my sessions:

As I work through a topic, I will explain it, try to test the student's understanding and work through examples and past paper questions. I will also try to identify suitable revision strategies and techniques for them. In my personal experience, making summaries, for example, writing out key equations and definitions for each topic and annotating understanding tips was very effective. I will help students to identify their strengths and which topics or skills areas in which they need to improve their knowledge and understanding.
