I have been teaching students privately since 2008. I have students in Singapore, India Australia, and the UK who learn music in person and online. My teaching style focuses on voice culture, music theory, improvisational techniques. I have over 50 students ranging from 5 to 60 years of age. I also teach a few special needs students whose lessons focus more on following rhythm with body percussion or simple percussion instruments and singing simple songs. I have also worked as an Adjunct teacher both at SOTA and NIE, Singapore.

Since graduating from Kalakshetra, I have focused on experimenting and pushing boundaries as a singer. I have enjoyed working with musicians from different disciplines to explore how Carnatic music may be performed outside of the conventional concert format to introduce this music to people from different cultures. I am also a singer for classical Indian dance (Bharatanatyam) recitals. I have sung for over 35 dance recitals and productions in India, Singapore, Malaysia, and Australia.

I use my training in Carnatic music and the knowledge I have gained over the years with my performances to create a wholesome teaching methodology that will help students reach their full potential as musicians

Experience

  • Part-time Lecturer (Jan, 2023–Jun, 2024) at Nanyang Technological University / National Institute of Education, Singapore
    I worked as a Part-time Lecturer at NIE-NTU (National Institute of Education) from 2023 till 2024. I lectured parts of two modules meant for degree and postgraduate students that focus on Indian Classical Music practices and theory.
  • Adjunct Vocal Teacher (Jan, 2022–Nov, 2024) at School of The Arts Singapore
    I worked as an adjunct vocal teacher at SOTA (School of the Arts, Singapore), from 2022 to 2024. At SOTA, I taught students in the IB programme who majored in Carnatic Vocal. The lessons included Vocal, Theory and Improvisational Techniques .
