I am Tharindu Viraj Rathnayaka, a graduate with a Polymer Chemistry special (Honours) Degree with second-class upper division from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. I have completed the final examinations and research related to my degree. In my classes I cover the complete syllubus including model paper practise. There, I focus on revision the course content,positive reinforcement strategies while enhancing the innovative thinking.
Since the beginning of my undergraduate course, I have been curious and interested in Chemistry. I have a strong background in Physics and Pure Chemistry in my first two years, and I chose Polymer Chemistry as my area of specialization after the second year. The Special Degree in Polymer Chemistry is a newly established program in the Department of Polymer Science, and I was one of the nine students of the second special batch to have been enrolled in this degree. Special feature about this degree is that students are not restricted to the laboratory; they have the opportunity to be engaged more in the polymer-based industry and the technological and research institutes in Sri Lanka.
My research project was focused on developing a natural rubber vulcanizate by incorporating bio-based materials. It was an industrial-level research project, and my interest and dedication were rewarded with an “A” grade for my ten-credit research project in the final evaluation process.
In addition to my academics, I am a member of the Society of Polymer Science (2019), which was newly formed at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. We organized many programs, including industrial guest lecture series and charity events, which improved my interpersonal skills. I was also an active member of the champions of physics quiz competition at the university. I have been actively involved in co-curricular activities since my school days and was a member of the science society at Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala.
I would like to share my knowledge with students who are interested in learning to succeed in their future life. I assure that I will contribute with my maximum effort to perform my duties efficiently to the entire satisfaction of yours .
