Experience
Apapa Road, Costain, Lagos, Nigeria (Sep, 2021–Jan, 2025) at Redeemer's International School, Lagos
At Redeemer’s International School in Lagos, I served as the class teacher and English language teacher for Primary One pupils, aged 5 to 6. It was such a fulfilling experience. I handled English and other core subjects such as history, social studies, etc., and I loved finding creative ways to make lessons engaging and age-appropriate. From phonics to storytelling and simple writing activities, I did my best to help my learners build a strong foundation in English.
One of the parts I really enjoyed was leading the school’s morning devotions. It gave me the chance to connect with the children spiritually and help set a positive tone for each day. I also mentored the “Creative Minds” pupils (beacons and play groups); it was beautiful watching them grow in confidence and creativity. Working closely with parents and my fellow teachers, I made sure our classroom remained a happy, safe, and supportive space where every child felt seen and valued.
Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeia (Jul, 2019–Jul, 2020) at Sacred Heart Catholic college, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria
During my NYSC year, I was posted to Sacred Heart Catholic College in Abeokuta, where I taught English Language to Junior Secondary School 1 learners (ages 12–13). It was a new environment for me, but I embraced the experience with an open heart and a desire to make a difference.
I was responsible for preparing and delivering English lessons in a way that kept the learners engaged and interested. I especially enjoyed helping them improve their writing and speaking skills, and I made it a point to create a classroom atmosphere where every learner felt encouraged to participate.
Beyond teaching, I also assisted with organising class activities and supporting school events whenever I was needed. The experience helped me grow in patience, adaptability, and confidence, and I’m truly grateful for the connections I made during that time.
Bariga, Lagos. (Sep, 2018–Feb, 2019) at C.M.S Grammar school, Lagos
During my teaching practice at CMS Girls' School, Lagos, I taught SS1 students (ages 14) English Language, focusing mainly on grammar. I broke down complex concepts into simple, relatable examples, making the lessons fun and easy to understand. I encouraged students to participate actively, helping them improve their grammar in writing and speaking.
It was a great experience that taught me how to connect with students, plan engaging lessons, and manage a classroom effectively. Watching the students grow in their skills was awesome.
