Responsibilities as a Liberal Studies Lecturer
Teaching & Instruction
Deliver engaging lectures in liberal studies courses such as history, government, philosophy, sociology, public administration, international relations, and ethics.
Develop and implement lesson plans, course outlines, and teaching materials that meet curriculum requirements.
Facilitate interactive learning through discussions, debates, group work, case studies, and simulations.
Integrate real-world issues such as governance, diplomacy, civic education, and peacebuilding into classroom content.
Curriculum Development
Design, review, and update liberal studies curricula to reflect current global, national, and regional trends.
Ensure alignment of course content with institutional goals, accreditation standards, and students’ professional needs.
Incorporate interdisciplinary approaches across governance, sociology, philosophy, and communication.
Research & Scholarship
Conduct academic research in liberal studies, governance, human rights, or diplomacy.
Publish peer-reviewed journal articles, policy briefs, and conference papers.
Supervise student research projects, ensuring academic integrity and methodological rigor.
Student Mentorship & Guidance
Advise students on academic, career, and personal development matters.
Provide mentorship in leadership, civic engagement, and professional ethics.
Supervise internships, practicums, and community service learning projects.
Assessment & Evaluation
Develop and administer assessments (assignments, exams, projects, and presentations).
Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
Maintain accurate student performance records and submit grades within deadlines.
Community Engagement & Public Service
Participate in outreach programs that promote civic education, human rights, and social awareness.
Represent the institution in academic and community forums on governance, education, and diplomacy.
Collaborate with NGOs, government bodies, and international organizations on relevant projects.
Professional Development & Collaboration
Stay updated with emerging issues in liberal arts, governance, and education.
Attend and present at academic conferences, workshops, and symposia.
Collaborate with fellow lecturers across disciplines to promote interdisciplinary teaching.
Institutional Contribution
Serve on academic and administrative committees.
Contribute to policy development, student welfare, and institutional governance.
Support quality assurance processes and institutional strategic planning.
