I'm a doctor who specializes in internal medicne, I work in the ER and in-patient areas of a high complexity hospital in Medellín, Colombia. On my day to day practice, I encounter all sort of clinical challenges, ranging from the workup and initial diagnosis of multiple conditions (tuberculosis, lymphomas, cirrhosis, kidney injury, heart failure, to name just a few) and the treatment of most of them. I also care for the chronic conditions of patients hospitalized for non-medicla reasons (EG: A perforated diabetic patient).
I interact with medical students, interns and residents on a daily basis. My teaching style involves trying to spark interest in the very fascinating and vast field that is internal medicine, and helping students to understand concepts for them to be properly grasped and retained, instead of just reliying on memorization. I like to teach based on real life clinical cases, and I usually try to ask a lot of questions in order to generate productive discussions.
