I am a literacy intervention teacher who supports children struggling with reading, spelling, and decoding using structured evidence-based approaches. I work with early readers and older learners who have gaps in foundational literacy skills, including learners with dyslexia type difficulties.
My teaching is rooted in structured literacy, with a strong focus on phonological awareness, phonics, decoding, spelling, fluency, and language structure. Lessons are systematic, explicit, and multi-sensory, helping learners clearly understand how language works rather than memorizing rules or guessing words.
I adapt my teaching to each child's pace and learning profile. Sessions are calm, supportive, and confidence-building, especially for learners who have experienced repeated failure in traditional classroom settings. I also support grammar development by helping learners understand sentence structure, word forms, and how language fits together for both reading and writing.
I have worked with children who struggled to blend or decode simple words, read slowly and hesitantly, guessed or skipped words while reading, and had persistent spelling and writing difficulties. Through targeted intervention, many of these learners have shown improvements so much than they themselves could imagine.
