Let me introduce myself with this narrative CV. I was born and grew up in India, and my father was a teacher. At present, I am working passionately at the University of Auckland as a teacher and a scientist in cancer research. I graduated from the University of Cambridge, UK, with a degree in engineering. After graduating from Cambridge, I returned to India and spent a brief period at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. In the meantime, I got a job in Japan and worked as a research scientist at the Joint Research Centre for Atom Technology in Tsukuba Science City. I returned to India for my marriage and back to Japan with my wife, and my family's first fruit, a son, was born during our two-year stay in Japan. As I anticipated, the language barrier was possibly affecting my first son's future education, so I relocated to the USA with my wife and son to join Cornell University for my postdoctoral research in nanotechnology for medical applications. I later pursued research in quantum computing at the University of Notre Dame, near Chicago, where I designed and developed a single-electron tunnelling transistor using the Quantum-dot Cellular Automata (QCA) nanotechnology method.
Due to some cultural differences in the USA contrasted with my family's culture and a roadside incident in Ithaca, New York State, my family relocated to Singapore, where I worked as a senior scientist at the Institute of Medical Biology governed by the Agency for Science, Technology, and Research (A*STAR) to do research in medical devices, sleep-related diseases, and cancer research, and remained with the organisation for 12 years. While at A*STAR, I was seconded to serve as president of the International Researchers Club (IRC), managing 1500+ science, engineering, and biomedical researchers from 52+ countries who had migrated to Singapore. During this period in Singapore, I have also completed a postgraduate certificate in commercial law and a specialist diploma in workplace health and safety. Singapore was a blessed place for my family, and I have been promoted to obtain the privileged status of being the father of 3 sons, as my other two sons were born here in this vibrant country for innovation.
To provide my 3 sons and my family with a promising future, I resigned from my job as a senior scientist in Singapore and relocated to New Zealand with my family in late 2014. Initially, I worked as a research staff member of Auckland Uniservices on the New Zealand government's MBIE-funded, export-driven project to promote the NZ milk industry and conducted research on bovine in vitro fertilisation (IVF), contributing to NZ's knowledge-based economy. I was a student at the UoA Business School in 2016 and completed a postgraduate degree, Master of Commercialisation and Entrepreneurship (MCE). I believe in lifelong learning, and I recently submitted my PhD thesis in Molecular Medicine to the University of Auckland, investigating the role of the estrogen hormone in breast cancer metastasis. In 2025, I completed a leadership program at the Carey Baptist College, a New Zealand theological institution, and received a certificate in leadership and pastoral care
