For example, we study equation of circle but most of us don't know it's use other than solving questions. But these type of equations are practicing in computer science for making figures with exact parameters. By knowing it you can solve questions easily by making rough figure rather than understanding only theory part.
Similarly, ellipse, hyperbola etc.
