Hello parents, my name is Marsena. I have 4 years of tutoring experience at Kumon in Canada, where I worked with children of all ages and learning needs. I am currently studying Linguistics with the goal of becoming a Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist.
I have experience supporting children with exceptionalities, including Autism, ADHD, and ADD. Some of my proudest moments include working with a nonverbal child with autism who, through our sessions, began speaking, writing, and engaging fully with her teacher in day school. These experiences have shaped my patient, compassionate, and tailored approach to teaching.
In addition to my tutoring, I was President of Finance for a university club, where I managed budgets and team development—skills that strengthen my organization, planning, and ability to adapt strategies to each student. My methodology is rooted in understanding over memorization: I help students truly grasp concepts, build memory and comprehension skills, and gain confidence in expressing themselves. In short, I help children understand the why behind the what.
Parents can expect regular feedback after every session, including their child’s strengths, areas for growth, and practical strategies to continue learning at home. My goal is for every student to feel comfortable, confident, and capable in every environment.
