In teaching biology at the levels of grade 10, grade 12, B.Sc., and M.Sc., it is essential to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical skills, encompassing computational, spectroscopic, and molecular biology techniques to provide a holistic understanding of biomolecular sciences. Computational approaches such as Replica Exchange Molecular Dynamics (REMD), conventional molecular dynamics (MD) simulations using GROMACS, and molecular docking through AutoDock Vina, along with visualization platforms like PyMOL, Chimera, and VMD, enable students to explore protein–ligand and protein–protein interactions at the molecular level. Databases such as the Protein Data Bank (PDB), UniProt, KEGG, SWISS-MODEL, ExPASy, and XtalPred support learning through sequence, structural, and functional annotation crucial for computational modeling. Experimental validation is introduced through spectroscopy methods, including absorbance, fluorescence, and circular dichroism, as well as advanced biophysical techniques such as Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) for binding kinetics and Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) for particle size determination. Molecular biology laboratory training includes genomic DNA and RNA isolation, plasmid extraction, PCR-based cloning, electrophoresis, protein purification assays, protein estimation, blotting techniques (Western, Northern, Southern), and Fast Protein Liquid Chromatography (FPLC). For data handling and visualization, students are guided in using Sigmaplot, Origin, and Microsoft Office across Windows and Linux platforms. Together, these methods equip learners with a comprehensive pipeline from computational modeling to experimental validation and data analysis, preparing them for advanced research and applied biological sciences.
