I am a CELTA-qualified English teacher with over 11 years of experience supporting students in ESL, EAL, and academic English across secondary and tertiary levels. I currently teach within the British curriculum in the UAE, working with learners from KS3 to IGCSE and AS Level.
I specialise in helping multilingual students build confidence in reading, writing, speaking, and exam skills. My lessons focus on clear explanations, structured writing support, vocabulary development, and practical strategies that students can immediately apply in class and examinations. I provide targeted guidance for IGCSE and AS English, including essay planning, analysis skills, and language accuracy.
With a background in linguistics and a strong understanding of how students acquire language, I design lessons that are supportive, structured, and tailored to individual needs. I also prioritise building confidence — because language progress happens fastest when students feel secure and capable.
Whether a student needs exam preparation, academic writing support, or structured EAL intervention, I aim to create focused and encouraging sessions that lead to measurable improvement. My teaching approach is structured, student-centred, and outcome-driven. I begin by identifying each learner’s strengths, gaps, and exam requirements, then design focused lessons with clear objectives and measurable targets. I use scaffolding techniques such as guided modelling, writing frames, vocabulary banks, and step-by-step essay planning to help students build independence gradually.
For exam-focused learners (IGCSE and AS Level), I emphasise:
Understanding mark schemes and assessment criteria
Developing analytical depth in reading and literature responses
Improving paragraph structure using evidence-based frameworks
Timed practice with constructive, specific feedback
For EAL students, I focus on:
Academic vocabulary development
Sentence structure and grammatical accuracy
Pronunciation and spoken fluency
Confidence-building through guided discussion and structured tasks
I believe progress comes from consistent feedback and reflection. Students receive clear guidance on how to improve, not just what to correct. Many of my learners show noticeable improvement in writing clarity, exam technique, and confidence within a short period of structured practice.
What makes me effective as a teacher is my ability to combine linguistic knowledge with practical exam strategy. I understand how language works at a deeper level, but I explain it in simple, accessible ways. My goal is always to help students feel capable, prepared, and academically secure.
