As someone that learned Japanese at a young age through English, I understand exactly how hard learning Japanese seems from textbooks aimed towards English speakers.

It took me a good while to realize that learning Japanese would have been easier if I had done it through Kannada, and that's the mistake I'm going to make sure no one else that knows an Asian language makes.

I will use Indian languages as a bridge to teach you Japanese. I'm based in Chennai and students nearby are welcome to join offline, but note I'm not 100% fluent in Tamil. However, I certainly know how it works well enough to get the point across.

I believe education should not require a budget, so I offer full price, scholarship, and free material, based on the amount of structure and direct guidance you need from me. Check out the pricing rubric. It's a little long but all the detail is important so please read it carefully....

All session material is free for the general public. You pay only for live access, real-time feedback, and direct engagement with me.

Classes are taught by an N2-level instructor with lessons tailored to take advantage of the similarities between Tamil and Japanese

Hybrid course: nearby students are welcome to attend in person, others join online.

    - An extensive collection of free resources (no extra payment for materials. Includes the best resources I studied from)

Viewer, unlimited slots. A middle ground between formal classes and self-paced.

    - for those who learn well from observation or wish to experience a few sessions live before committing.

    - You will have access to the live instruction itself and the right to ask questions live during Q&A, but participants are higher priority.

-Viewer questions will be answered after participant questions, if time permits.

Full participants can repost a question from a viewer to increase its priority.

    D) Free, self-paced:

-Past recordings are free. You can choose this path if you don't need structure or 1-on-1 help. [Links will be added once sessions start]

    **Subsidy benefits and conditions**
A standard N5 course runs ₹15,000–20,000. This course costs about ₹2,500-5,500 in total, and it's taught by an N2 level instructor, which usually costs an extra premium for the higher instructor qualification.

Having been a beginner that found market pricing unaffordable myself, I aim to make learning as financially feasible as possible.

In return, I expect commitment and dedication from you, and regular attendance.

    **What's expected of you**
Students are expected to independently cover:

    - Vocabulary
    - 5 kana characters/day (hiragana, a break of 2 weeks, then katakana)
    - 2 kanji/day after katakana

We will cover everything in class, but we will condense weekly material into focused sessions, so students are expected to independently memorize the vocab and letters at a reasonable pace. Self-study is what makes 4 months possible with just 2 classes a week.

A 2-week grace exists to account for students who can't keep up on a certain week due to illness or emergencies, but I expect them to cover the material they fell behind on within the next week.

    Students who either

    1) cannot demonstrate knowledge of the self-study vocab and letters for 4 classes in a row (2 weeks)

    2) miss 4 consecutive classes without an important reason

will move to my non-subsidized regular tutoring class (₹500/hour), as the subsidy is being offered as a scholarship for dedicated learners, and because keeping up is essential to maintain the fast pace.

    **Target Audience**
Beginners that want structure and guidance, but also have the motivation and discipline to study by themselves.

*Slots are limited to 10 to ensure that students get enough 1-on-1 time. Slots are filled on a first-come basis. If you have questions or need clarification, feel free to reach out.*
