Aishe Lenga Language/Communications

I treat language as an asset, not a barrier. Encouraging students to use their full linguistic repertoire (mother tongues and hybrid vernaculars like Kasietaal) to unpack complex ideas rather than enforcing rigid, "English-only" compliance. Rooted in social justice and equity, my approach actively dismantles the psychological and structural stigmas attached to local accents and indigenous languages. I replace traditional, exclusionary deficit models with empathetic, student-centered learning. My focus on ground-level, contextual realities ensures that the curriculum is directly relevant to students' lived socioeconomic environments. By embracing translanguaging, I believe I lift the "Translation Tax" from non-native English speakers, allowing them to engage in deep, higher-order critical thinking rather than struggling with basic translation.
